China and Singapore top list of markets with best prospects in 2011
Recent polls show that local and foreign businesses expect China and Singapore to lead the way as Asia’s top markets for the next twelve months. And where businesses go, can lawyers be far behind? The BT-UniSIM Business Climate Survey paints a positive picture of economic growth in China and Singapore, which explains all the rush by law firms to jump into the Asian pond:
“Of the 166 firms that responded to a supplementary question to the Business Climate Survey, 24 per cent cited China and 23 per cent picked Singapore as offering the best business prospects for them.
China has emerged as the top pick every time in the past five years that this supplementary question has been asked.
But the preference gap between China and Singapore has narrowed from last year, when 30 per cent of the firms cited China and 17 per cent named Singapore.”

“Indeed, companies in different sectors differed in their takes on where the best business prospects lie.”
