Herbert Smith has announced the promotion of 18 lawyers to its partnership on 1 May 2010, including three partnerships in Tokyo, Shanghai and Singapore. This brings the number of partners to 272 partners worldwide.
The new partners in Asia are:
Gavin Margetson (Tokyo) – Mr. Margetson specialises in dispute resolution and has experience in conducting high value, complex international arbitrations, litigation cases and ADR matters in Europe and Asia. he has previously worked in the disputes teams in the firm’s London and Bangkok offices. He has been practising in Tokyo since 2004.
Lewis McDonald (Singapore) – Mr. McDonald is a corporate lawyer specialising in global energy and natural resources. His experience includes advising on acquisitions, developments and disposals of energy projects around the world, with a focus on oil and gas, LNG and power projects (including clean power).
May Tai (Shanghai) – Ms. Tai specialises in cross-border China-related dispute resolution, including international arbitration, litigation and regulatory investigations. She currently practises from Herbert Smith’s Shanghai office and has previously practised in Herbert Smith’s London, Singapore and Tokyo offices.
